Group Show Flirting With Abstraction

Mon Dieu Projects
POV
Abstract Adjacent is the second exhibition at this buzzy new Downtown gallery, from influential Montreal dealer Juno Youn and American collector Spencer Walker. With the title a winking nod to an LA real estate market pitching technique (I.e. “Beverly Hills adjacent”), the artists in this group show veritably dance around abstraction. But Jaehong Ahn’s Reconciliation has almost Dalí-ilke surrealist quality; and the works of DL Alvarez are like post-psychedelic reworkings of Boschian nightmares.

ABOUT
Abstract Adjacent is a fusion of Mon Dieu Projects founders’ personal artistic tastes. The exhibition splashes with bursts of flashing colors - some obnoxious, some refined, however, all the pieces express sublime sensory overload. - Mon Dieu Projects
